12. autumn

Come in autumn Krsna.

In autumn you will see what I mean.
The kaansh is tall and in white blossom,
And the ring road soft edged.
And the sun like lamplight on
Window sill.
And by the river
And around rain left ponds
                             Where men are working
                             Bridges and roads
                             In autumn
Are pink grasses.
And pink, imagine!

In autumn are leaves every where
Turning sides,
And sir says, he has that 'feeling'
                          in autumn.
Sir is my teacher, but he does not teach.
In autumn he dyes his beard red
And says – Let’s go to Standard!

And he carries his huge head
And his flying hair with him
And his thick glasses.
And his purse, always
Fat with pay in autumn.

We could have a pot of green label

And pick at pastries
While he told us what it was like
In the autumns of late sixties…
                             Leaning o'er

                             The table.
